Welcome to the 2019 Walhalla Wound Up!

The Traralgon Harriers are delighted to be hosting this wonderful event in the historic town of Walhalla and I look forward to seeing you on the day, be it the 21k, 10k or the kids 2.5k, we hope you have a great day out.

If this is you first time at the Walhalla Wound Up, welcome, you are in for an amazing run! If you are returning for another crack we know that you just love this amazing venue and that you look forward to what the day has in store for you.

Walhalla is an amazing piece of history and we ask all runners to allow yourself plenty of time to park your car as you may have a small walk to the start line area. As for the run, it takes in some of the most amazing scenery in Gippsland, if not the state and we ask all runners to respect the natural environment and not leave or drop any rubbish, bottles or gel wrappers on course. We will have bins at the aid stations so you can drop it off there.

All entries, events briefs and race starts will be conducted near the Star Hotel and several club volunteers will be on hand to help if needed. You are welcome to leave a bag or your keys with us as we will have people around the start area for the day, however this is done so at your own risk.

As for the day, the following timelines will apply for the day;

8:15am 21k Bib Collection Commences
8:50am 21k Early Starters Race Briefing
9:00am 21k Early Start for those over 2hrs 15mins
9:05am Kids 2.5k and 10k Bib Collection Commences
9:20am 21k Race Briefing
9:30am 21k Start
9:40am Kids 2.5k Race Briefing (parents welcome)
9:45am Kids 2.5k race start (parents welcome)
10:20am 10k Race Briefing
10:30am 10k Race Start
10:45am Kids 2.5k presentation
11:00am Approx. first 21k finishers
11:10am Approx. first 10k finishers
11:45am Approx. presentations commence

Presentations of category medals will commence when the majority of finishers have returned.

As for the course, this is a trail run so some natural obstacles may exist, such as rocks, potholes, trees, puddles and wildlife (yes that may include snakes), however the course will be marked and the following links will take you to maps for the 21k and 10k. 

21k –

10k –

The kids 2.5k is the first 2.5k of the 10k course.

Water stations will be available on the 21k (3 stops, with only the stop at Thomson station manned) and 10k (1 plus start finish area).  We do not require any mandatory gear for this event, however runners are welcome to carry their own water, food , camelback etc as they wish. We will also have friendly tail runner/sweepers on both courses as well to keep you company should you need it.

If you need to remove yourself from the event you must notify either a volunteer on course, or contact myself on ph 0408 201 200 to advise your withdrawal. Mobile phone coverage is limited in the area, however SMS messages usually work.

Finally we encourage everyone to really enjoy themselves, have fun and if you see someone that may need some support, give them some encouragement and if you see one of our club volunteers, give them a thanks! Plus while you are in Walhalla why stay a little while and enjoy what the town has to offer.
