Last Thursday’s Traralgon Harriers run was a brand new 5km course, criss-crossing around Waterhole Creek, Morwell. The run, starting adjacent Morwell Park Primary School, was both flat and fast under the footpath lights and allowed runners to post some quick times.
Finishing first on handicap for the night was Helen Whitby (29:52), followed by Tom Irvine (23:36) in second place. Harrier’s welcomed back Ultra-marathon runner Zack Beasley who ran a smoking time of 18:01 – finishing with the fastest time of the night, as well as third overall on handicap.
Reclaiming her title of fastest female of the night was Molly Irvine (21:32) and next quickest was Liz Kenney (24:06), both women backing up from another Athletics Victoria Cross-country this time at Anglesea, which saw their teams finish first and third respectively, in their divisions. In her first Harrier’s run, Jo Bedford (24:42) was the third fastest female.
The fastest outright males behind Zack, were veterans Biasi Silvestro (19:27) and Ian Cornthwaite (19:45).
Tonight’s run (Thursday 4th) is the Meadow Park Drive 6km course, with Intermediate 3.3km and Junior 1km options. Visit TraralgonHarriers.org.au for additional information and upcoming events.
