TRARALGON HARRIERS RACE REPORT- 8 DECEMBER 2016
The location for the weekly Traralgon Harriers run was situated at the Railway Reserve in Traralgon, located at the top of Hickox Street last Thursday night. With the annual harriers Christmas run and dinner being held next Thursday the 15th of December, 31 keen runners had a triple-lap trot around the tranquil railway reserve for the second last run of the year. The run took in sights of the reserve and lake that consisted of a slight incline, just before having a squiz past Gippsland water and neighbouring houses and then back onto the trails of the reserve.
The first three home on handicap for the night were three of the top improving runners including Warren Shields 27:27, Biassi Silvestro 25:20 and Molly Irvine 24:29. These runners have been consistently picking away at their times and it just goes to show that practice really does make perfect!
It was a great run by Mark Rossiter on the night who took the victory for the gents in a time of 24:34. Steve McLeod came in next with a time of 24:56, followed by Biassi Silvestro 25:20.
The top three fastest times for the ladies belonged to Molly Irvine 24:29, followed by Georgia Pearson 27:47 and Kayla Gallert in 28:05.
Next week’s run is the Traralgon Harriers 5km Team Challenge Christmas Run, which starts at the clubrooms on the corner of Douglas Parade and Grubb Avenue, Traralgon.
The run is from 5:45pm – 7:30pm. Please bring a plate of food to share in the clubrooms for dinner after the run.
