RARALGON HARRIERS RACE REPORT- 16 FEBRUARY 2017
Crinigan Road Bush Reserve 6km
It was another sunny and warm start to this week’s Thursday night run which welcomed a good number of 51 runners! This week’s run was a 2 lap course starting near the entrance of the Crinigan Road Bush reserve (adjacent to the Morwell Golf). The run made its way up through the tranquil bush reserve, past the back of Maryvale Private Hospital and then back down, up and down again through the tracks of the reserve, before crossing the start/finish line for another undulating loop and doing it all over again.
The club welcomed a couple of fresh faces by the names of Ian Outhred and Sandra Burns who finished the 6km course in times of 40:15 and 37:12 respectively. We look forward to welcoming new runners like these more often.
The first three home on handicap this week was Ian Outhred who, on his first outing with the club, came home in first place on handicap. Second off the mark was Darrel Cross in a time of 27:17 and third for another week in a row was Biassi Silvestro in 27:38.
The top three men’s times for this week belonged to the golden-star athlete Ian Cornthwaite in 26:16, adventure-king Robbie Preston was second in 27:04 and the consistent Darrel Cross in 27:17.
As for the females it was Molly Irvine in first after a break from injury in a time of 30:44, speedy Simone Forbes second in 30:51 and superstar Liz Kenney in a time of 32:47.
Next week’s run is the Tour De West 6km course, which starts at the Clubrooms on the corner of Douglas Parade and Grubb Ave in Traralgon (West End Sports Complex).
